Joshua 4:14

On that day the LORD magnified Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they feared him, as they feared Moses, all the days of his life.

The verse belongs to the account of Israel's preparation for and passage across the Jordan into Canaan, recorded in Joshua 4:1-24. On that day the Lord honored and magnified Joshua before all Israel. The crossing itself, with its miracle of the parted waters, was the fulfillment of God's promise to magnify Joshua before the people.

That magnifying produced a lasting reverence, for the people feared, respected, and revered Joshua as they had revered Moses, all the days of his life. The miracle assured Israel that God would remain with them and protect them, and that He would work through Joshua as He had worked through Moses. This assurance strengthened them as they began the conquest of the land.
