Joshua 8:5

And I, and all the people that are with me, will approach unto the city: and it shall come to pass, when they come out against us, as at the first, that we will flee before them,

Joshua 8:5 belongs to the account of Israel's conquest of Ai, which began from Gilgal. It belongs to the renewed second advance against Ai after Achan's sentence and punishment were carried out, which turned away God's wrath from Israel. By divine command Joshua marshaled all the men of war and approached the city again. With God's power supporting Israel and the armies of heaven fighting for them, the people soon took the city and put their enemies to flight. This shows that Israel's only hope was obedience to God.
