Joshua 8:6

(For they will come out after us) till we have drawn them from the city; for they will say, They flee before us, as at the first: therefore we will flee before them.

The verse belongs to the account of Israel's conquest of Ai, which came after the overthrow of Jericho. It stands in the renewed attack after Achan's punishment turned God's wrath away from Israel, when Israel was commanded to advance against Ai again. That renewed advance was to be made with all the men of war.

The verse states the plan to pretend to flee as at the first, in order to draw Ai's people away from the city so that the ambush could take it. In this battle the armies of heaven fought for Israel so that its enemies were put to flight. The plan succeeded and the city soon came into Israel's possession.
