Joshua 9:10
And all that he did to the two kings of the Amorites, that were beyond Jordan, to Sihon king of Heshbon, and to Og king of Bashan, which was at Ashtaroth. And all that he did to the two kings of the Amorites, that were beyond Jordan, to Sihon king of Heshbon, and to Og king of Bashan, which was at Ashtaroth.
The verse records the claim of the Gibeonite envoys that their people had heard of all God had done to the two Amorite kings beyond the Jordan, Sihon king of Heshbon and Og king of Bashan at Ashtaroth. They set forth that report to support their pretense that they had come from a far distant country. It belongs to the unwise treaty with the Gibeonites made at Gilgal, which punished Israel's neglect to ask counsel of God.
The report of what God did to Sihon and Og went before Israel and taught some among the heathen that He alone is the true and supreme God. The Gibeonites learned from that knowledge, renounced their heathenism, and united with Israel and joined themselves to His people. By God's mercy toward idolaters who acknowledge His divine authority, they were permitted to share in the blessings of the covenant.
