Judges 1:34

And the Amorites forced the children of Dan into the mountain: for they would not suffer them to come down to the valley:

The Amorites forced the children of Dan back into the mountain country and would not permit them to come down to take possession of the valley. This outcome revealed incomplete obedience to the divine command to dispossess the land, for love of ease led Israel to spare and tolerate hostile inhabitants instead of driving them out fully. God had promised victory with the design that His people should enlarge their territory and spread the knowledge of Himself, but by stopping halfway they left His purpose unfulfilled.
