Judges 14:6
And the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and he rent him as he would have rent a kid, and he had nothing in his hand: but he told not his father or his mother what he had done. And the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and he rent him as he would have rent a kid, and he had nothing in his hand: but he told not his father or his mother what he had done.
The Spirit of the Lord came mightily, even powerfully, upon Samson and enabled him to tear apart a young lion with his bare hands when he had nothing in his hand. His extraordinary strength came from God's power and did not come from his physical build. That strength was tied to his condition as a Nazarite, symbolized by his unshorn hair.
He was given that strength to carry out a divine mission. Possession of divine strength did not remove his moral responsibility, and he retained the ability to choose right or wrong. His choices and associations with the Philistines darkened his life. His failure to govern his passions led him toward shame, disaster, and death.
The Spirit's coming upon Samson illustrates how the Spirit of God came upon Saul and stirred him to act.
