Ehud Kneels Before King Eglon With a Hidden DaggerBible World

Judges 3:20

And Ehud came unto him; and he was sitting in a summer parlour, which he had for himself alone. And Ehud said, I have a message from God unto thee. And he arose out of his seat.

Judges 3:20 belongs to one connected account running from Judges 3 to 17 in which backsliding from God is followed by suffering, oppression, captivity and servitude, and returning to God is followed by forgiveness and deliverance. Its setting is amid terrible moral surroundings and the demoralizing influences of the tribes Israel permitted to remain in the land of promise. In that setting it shows the perversity and unbelief of the people together with the long-suffering and goodness of God.
