Judges 3:24
When he was gone out, his servants came; and when they saw that, behold, the doors of the parlour were locked, they said, Surely he covereth his feet in his summer chamber. When he was gone out, his servants came; and when they saw that, behold, the doors of the parlour were locked, they said, Surely he covereth his feet in his summer chamber.
Judges 3:24 stands within one connected, composite account running from Judges 3 to 17 in which backsliding from God is followed by suffering, oppression, captivity and servitude, and returning to God is followed by forgiveness and deliverance. Within that record the verse displays the perversity and unbelief of the people set over against the long-suffering and goodness of God. Its setting is amid awful moral surroundings and under the demoralizing influence of the tribes that Israel permitted to remain in the land of promise.
