Judges 9:33
And it shall be, that in the morning, as soon as the sun is up, thou shalt rise early, and set upon the city: and, behold, when he and the people that is with him come out against thee, then mayest thou do to them as thou shalt find occasion.
The counsel is to rise early in the morning as soon as the sun is up and set upon the city, and when he and the people that are with him come out, to do to them as occasion shall allow. It stands in the history of Abimelech's rule and his conflict with the men of Shechem. He was the son of Gideon's maid, who caused Gideon's sons to be slain that he himself might be made ruler of Israel.
To choose as ruler one who had slain his own brothers was folly, as set forth in Jotham's parable. After the city rebelled his forces attacked Shechem, its inhabitants were killed, and it was utterly destroyed. That assault fulfilled Jotham's words and formed part of the retribution that brought Abimelech's violent rule to an end.
