Lamentations 2:13
What thing shall I take to witness for thee? what thing shall I liken to thee, O daughter of Jerusalem? what shall I equal to thee, that I may comfort thee, O virgin daughter of Zion? for thy breach is great like the sea: who can heal thee?
The verse portrays Jerusalem's devastation as a breach or wound as vast as the sea. That wound is the suffering of Jerusalem in captivity, for the surrounding context places this desolation in the carrying away into Babylon. The breach is so great that it lies beyond any human power to heal. For the same reason no one is able to bring comfort equal to such ruin.
