Lamentations 2:4
He hath bent his bow like an enemy: he stood with his right hand as an adversary, and slew all that were pleasant to the eye in the tabernacle of the daughter of Zion: he poured out his fury like fire. He hath bent his bow like an enemy: he stood with his right hand as an adversary, and slew all that were pleasant to the eye in the tabernacle of the daughter of Zion: he poured out his fury like fire.
Lamentations 2:4 is part of a lament over the destruction of Jerusalem and the captivity of its people, when judgment fell upon Zion. In that judgment the Lord took His stand against His own city as an enemy and adversary, turning His hand against it in anger. The bow bent like that of a foe and the right hand raised like that of an opponent express deliberate, hostile action against Zion.
Within the tabernacle of the daughter of Zion He struck down all that was pleasant to the eye and precious, bringing death even into the sanctuary. His fury was poured out with consuming intensity, like fire unleashed upon the place.
