Scenes From the Book of Leviticus Blended Togetherby KalebRosendahl

Leviticus 1:3

If his offering be a burnt sacrifice of the herd, let him offer a male without blemish: he shall offer it of his own voluntary will at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation before the LORD.

The directions for offerings were given through Moses by Christ. The sacrificial system was designed to point beyond the outward act to Christ as the coming Savior who would bear sin and die for the world, and its offerings represented His ministry and death. The male burnt offering was required to be without blemish, for God would not accept a blemished sacrifice. That unblemished offering represented Christ, who was physically free from defect, strong and healthy, and an example of what God designed humanity to be through obedience to His laws. The same principle applies to the body and its faculties when offered in God's service, so Christians should preserve their health and strength by bringing their appetites and habits into conformity with natural law.
