Leviticus 14:12

And the priest shall take one he lamb, and offer him for a trespass offering, and the log of oil, and wave them for a wave offering before the LORD:

The verse prescribes one part of the cleansing offering for a person healed of leprosy: a male lamb to be offered as a trespass offering together with a log of oil, the two waved together as a wave offering before the Lord. It belongs to the procedure in which the healed person was to come to the priest, be examined for cleansing, and bring the offering Moses commanded.

When Jesus healed a leper He sent the man to the priests with this Mosaic offering, and in doing so honored, upheld, and showed respect for the law. That direction answered and disproved the charge that His teaching was opposed to the law of Moses, the Jewish law and code.

The priests were required to examine the healed man, decide and declare him free from disease, and by that public certification restore him to his family, friends, and society. That examination and certification, with the presenting of the offering, made the restored man a public testimony to his cure and to Jesus' divine power and love. Ceremonial ordinances of this kind were types whose meaning was revealed when Christ's death met their fulfillment.
