Leviticus 19:8
Therefore every one that eateth it shall bear his iniquity, because he hath profaned the hallowed thing of the LORD: and that soul shall be cut off from among his people. Therefore every one that eateth it shall bear his iniquity, because he hath profaned the hallowed thing of the LORD: and that soul shall be cut off from among his people.
Eating the peace-offering sacrifice on the third day profanes what the Lord has made holy. Everyone who eats it shall bear guilt and iniquity for that profanation. That soul shall be cut off from among the people.
God's people must be holy because God is holy, and only those who are holy are accepted and approved by God. That holiness is practical godliness in every circumstance, first as a blessing to members of one's own family and then to fellow men. It means loving neighbors as oneself, showing mercy and relief to all in need and not only to one's own sect, and refusing selfishness and self-centeredness. It means being united with Christ as individual believers in Jesus Christ as personal Saviour rather than being saved by church membership, and growing up to the full stature of Jesus Christ by cultivating the attributes of Jesus, which are the attributes of God.
