Leviticus 20:22

Ye shall therefore keep all my statutes, and all my judgments, and do them: that the land, whither I bring you to dwell therein, spue you not out.

God's people must keep and do all His statutes and judgments, so that the land where He brings them to settle and dwell will not cast them out or expel them. That warning was given concerning Israel's inheritance of Canaan, the land given to them to possess. Keeping those statutes means acting justly and dealing honestly, caring for the poor and the stranger, and loving one's neighbor. It also requires rejecting and avoiding the practices of the nations whom God cast out and drove out before Israel. By such obedience Israel was to be distinguished and to live as a holy people set apart for Him.
