A Blemished Priest Eats the Holy BreadBible World

Leviticus 21:19

Or a man that is brokenfooted, or brokenhanded,

A broken foot or a broken hand is named among the bodily defects that disqualified a man from ministering as a priest in the sanctuary. The rule required the ministers of the ancient sanctuary to be pure, holy, and without blemish. That strict standard was set because their service brought them into close connection with God, who is holy and particular and remains unchanged in holiness.

For the same reason the ministers of Jesus must likewise be pure, holy, and deeply pious and devoted. They are to be examples of piety and humility.
