Leviticus 23:17

Ye shall bring out of your habitations two wave loaves of two tenth deals: they shall be of fine flour; they shall be baken with leaven; they are the firstfruits unto the LORD.

Leviticus 23:17 gives the offering for Pentecost, held fifty days after the offering of firstfruits and seven weeks after Passover. It is also called the feast of harvest and the feast of weeks. The feast lasted only one day, devoted to religious service. On it two loaves made with yeast were to be presented before God at the temple as the firstfruits of the harvest.

The offering expressed gratitude for grain prepared as food. It acknowledged dependence on God and the duty to return gifts to sustain His cause. On that appointed feast day the believers gathered in Jerusalem who received the outpoured Holy Spirit were the firstfruits of the Christian church.
