Leviticus 23:3

Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.

The seventh day is a Sabbath of rest and a holy convocation in which no work is to be done. A holy convocation is a gathering to seek God for spiritual blessing, to thank Him, to remember His blessings and warnings, and to praise Christ for the rest, peace, and joy made possible by His sacrifice. Those who gather should be united in heart and mind, stay focused on worship without letting other attractions distract them, and keep their hope fixed on the promised rest and home in God's kingdom. Honoring the Creator on this day requires setting aside personal pleasure and convenience rather than violating the Sabbath, and preparing beforehand.

Preparation for holy convocations is a family work to begin at home, where eating and dressing are secondary to deep heart-searching and praying three times a day with persistent importunity like Jacob. Home is where to find Jesus and then bring Him to the meeting, which makes the time precious. Without this individual preparation no one can expect to feel the Lord's presence and see His power displayed.
