Leviticus 25:32
Notwithstanding the cities of the Levites, and the houses of the cities of their possession, may the Levites redeem at any time. Notwithstanding the cities of the Levites, and the houses of the cities of their possession, may the Levites redeem at any time.
Leviticus 25:32 stands within special directions given in Leviticus 25:25-37 for helping a brother who has become poor and fallen into decay. Those gracious words were given by Christ to Moses for the children of Israel. They required God's people to relieve the needy brother so that he could live among them, charging no interest or profit on money lent or food supplied. Those words extend through time to the present as a binding duty.
Believers must be doers of the Word by acting justly and mercifully toward a poor brother, and those in responsible positions must work together to see it done. Refusing to listen and neglecting this duty is sin, bringing the cry of God's children against the neglectful and preventing prayers from ascending acceptably as sweet incense. Such neglect can make it necessary for the Lord to take away prosperity and to hold the failure against His people.
