Leviticus 26:32

And I will bring the land into desolation: and your enemies which dwell therein shall be astonished at it.

Leviticus 26:32 belongs to a chapter that sets out the consequences of forsaking God through disobedience to His covenant. Israel's history demonstrates the principle taught there, that disobedience brings God's punishment and the loss of the prosperity He had given, while obedience brings blessing. That same contrast is held out in the promise of peace and security for obedience set against desolation for disobedience.

The warning is that such disobedience will bring the land itself into desolation, to a degree that even the enemies who come to dwell in it will be astonished at its condition. This desolation as punishment stands opposite the blessing, peace, and security promised for obedience. The chapter was given as a warning for those living at the end of the world, and it applies as much to God's people now as it did to Israel.
