Thief Flees Down a Moonlit Road from Nothingby emmanuel_higgins

Leviticus 26:36

And upon them that are left alive of you I will send a faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; and the sound of a shaken leaf shall chase them; and they shall flee, as fleeing from a sword; and they shall fall when none pursueth.

The chapter that holds this verse was given to Moses by Christ. It stands as a warning to God's people that disobedience brings punishment and the loss of God's favor. The verse portrays those left alive in the lands of their enemies as overcome by faintness of heart and fear. Even the sound of a shaken leaf chases them, and they flee as if fleeing from a sword and fall when no one pursues, showing how thoroughly judgment overtakes them. That warning reaches workers who manage God's work contrary to His direction, upon whom God's displeasure will come.
