Leviticus 26:39

And they that are left of you shall pine away in their iniquity in your enemies’ lands; and also in the iniquities of their fathers shall they pine away with them.

Leviticus 26 stands as a warning and admonition in which turning away from God brings punishment, while obedience brings favor. The whole chapter is to be read carefully, for its threatened consequences may also come upon those who read it. Within that warning, those who are left as survivors will waste away in the lands of their enemies, pining away both because of their own iniquities and because of the iniquities of their fathers.

This warning bears directly upon those living at the end of the world. They are to review the past without self-justification and without excusing their course. They are to repent of hardness of heart and stubbornness. They are to respond to the greater light entrusted to them and to the greater responsibility that light brings.
