Leviticus 3:15

And the two kidneys, and the fat that is upon them, which is by the flanks, and the caul above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away.

This instruction belongs to the order for the sacrificial peace offering. It requires taking away the two kidneys together with the fat upon them by the flanks and the caul above the liver with the kidneys. The peace offering was offered with prayer seeking God's acceptance and blessing, and part of it was reserved for the worshipers themselves to eat together in a sacred feast. These ceremonial directions were not empty outward forms but were appointed to point to Christ's ministry and death. Performed in the right spirit, this worship cultivated genuine devotion and piety with kindness and sympathy, instead of stopping at mere ceremony or self-gratification.
