The Burnt, Grain, Peace and Sin Offeringsby KalebRosendahl

Leviticus 4:6

And the priest shall dip his finger in the blood, and sprinkle of the blood seven times before the LORD, before the vail of the sanctuary.

This requirement concerns the sin offering appointed for a priest when he sinned and for the whole congregation when it sinned. In that case the victim's blood was to be carried by the priest into the holy place and sprinkled before the veil of the sanctuary. The fat of the victim was to be burned upon the altar of burnt offering out in the court. The body of the victim was to be taken out and burned outside the camp.

The sprinkling of the blood before the veil signified the transfer of the repentant sinner's guilt by means of the blood into the sanctuary itself. Where the blood was not carried into the holy place, the priest's eating of the sacrificial flesh served as the appointed sign of that same transfer of sin to the sanctuary.
