Leviticus 9:15
And he brought the people’s offering, and took the goat, which was the sin offering for the people, and slew it, and offered it for sin, as the first. And he brought the people’s offering, and took the goat, which was the sin offering for the people, and slew it, and offered it for sin, as the first.
The service described belongs to the eighth day that followed the seven days of consecration set apart for the priests. On that day Aaron and his sons presented the sacrifices that God had commanded, including the goat as the sin offering for the people. God accepted that obedient service and revealed His glory when fire came down and consumed the offering upon the altar. The people recognized this consuming fire as a token of God's favor, and they responded with praise and adoration and holy awe.
