Leviticus 9:22
And Aaron lifted up his hand toward the people, and blessed them, and came down from offering of the sin offering, and the burnt offering, and peace offerings. And Aaron lifted up his hand toward the people, and blessed them, and came down from offering of the sin offering, and the burnt offering, and peace offerings.
After offering the sin offering and the burnt offering and the peace offerings together with his sons, Aaron lifted up his hands toward the people and blessed them. The service had been carried out exactly as God had commanded. God showed His acceptance by sending fire from Himself that consumed the offering on the altar, thereby revealing His glory as a sign of His favor. At the sight the people praised and adored God and fell facedown before Him.
The high priest coming out to bless the people foreshadows Christ as the great High Priest coming out of heaven to bless His waiting people. The passage was used to expect Christ to come out of heaven on the tenth day of the seventh month, yet that timing rested on the assumption that Christ's heavenly ministry would last only one year, which the sanctuary type does not establish.
