Setting Up the Tabernacle and Consecrating Aaronby KalebRosendahl

Leviticus 9:23

And Moses and Aaron went into the tabernacle of the congregation, and came out, and blessed the people: and the glory of the LORD appeared unto all the people.

After seven days of consecration, Aaron and his sons entered upon their priestly service on the eighth day, and Aaron blessed the people. That coming out of the sanctuary to bless the people took place on the tenth day of the seventh month. The sacrifices had been presented exactly as God had directed. God manifested His acceptance by displaying His glory, for fire went out from the Lord and consumed the offering.

The people recognized the fire as a token of God's glory and favor, and in praise and adoration they bowed with their faces to the ground in reverent awe. The coming out and blessing foreshadows Christ as the great High Priest coming out of heaven on that day to bless His waiting people at the second advent. As the spring types — the Passover, the wave sheaf, and the meat offering — were fulfilled in their order and time by Christ's crucifixion, Christ's resurrection, and the descent of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, so the autumnal types will be fulfilled in time by events connected with the second advent. Worship must be ordered by God's appointed directions, for near obedience is not enough.
