Leviticus 9:3

And unto the children of Israel thou shalt speak, saying, Take ye a kid of the goats for a sin offering; and a calf and a lamb, both of the first year, without blemish, for a burnt offering;

Israel was to furnish a male goat for a sin offering, along with a calf and a lamb, both in their first year and without blemish, for burnt offerings. These were the people's offerings to be presented through Aaron's ministry on the eighth day after the consecration of the priests. When that prescribed service was performed exactly as commanded, it was accepted, and divine glory was revealed as fire descended and consumed the offering.
