Luke 11:14

And he was casting out a devil, and it was dumb. And it came to pass, when the devil was gone out, the dumb spake; and the people wondered.

Jesus was casting out a demon that had rendered a man unable to speak, and when the demon went out the mute man spoke, causing the people who witnessed it to marvel. The deliverance was a display of God's power joined with the Holy Spirit's converting power working upon hearts. It furnished sufficient evidence that Jesus was the Son of God. To answer that miracle by charging that He cast out devils through Beelzebub was blasphemy, for those who made the charge had seen divine power and felt the Spirit's conviction yet resisted the known truth and attributed His work to satanic powers.
