Luke 11:18
If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub. If Satan also be divided against himself, how shall his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through Beelzebub.
The charge that Jesus expelled demons by the power of Beelzebub collapses under its own logic, for if Satan's power were expelling Satan's own forces his kingdom would be divided against itself and could not stand. The question of how such a divided kingdom could endure lays bare the inconsistency of the accusation. The saying sets Satan's kingdom in direct opposition to the kingdom of God, belonging to Christ's frequent references throughout the Gospels to the great conflict He entered with Satan at the beginning of His ministry. That opposition leaves no neutral ground and calls each hearer to make sure of being on the Lord's side.
