Jesus Kneels in Anguish Near the Templeby CBPepper
12:49Luke 12:49
I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled?
The fire Christ came to send on the earth is already kindled for those blessed with great light, and it calls them to throw their whole heart into His service. It demands deep religious interest, a fervent engagement that refuses a tame and listless way of striving. It requires a life of daily prayer and constant watchfulness, keeping the soul awake to duty and danger. It means truly believing the truth, living it out, and practicing it in every act.
