During the daytime he was teaching in the temple, and at night he withdrew and stayed on the Mount of Olives. That night on the mount came after a long day spent healing the sick, helping the afflicted, and teaching the people, and it gave him retirement and rest. Nicodemus came to meet him there on the mount at night. This teaching in the temple comes just before the disciples came to him on the Mount of Olives, where he spoke about the destruction of the temple, his coming, and the end of the world. The chapter belongs to teaching about what people may expect in the time before the Lord's coming.
