Mark 1:14

Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,

After John was put in prison, and after His own baptism and anointing by the Spirit, Jesus came into Galilee. His coming there marked the beginning of the ministry foretold to reach the Messiah.

There He preached the gospel of the kingdom of God, with the burden that the time was fulfilled and the kingdom of God was at hand. That proclamation called for repentance and belief in the gospel. At this same time He passed by the priests and rulers and called common working fishermen, who straightway forsook their nets and followed Him.

His gospel message was based on the prophecies, and the time He declared fulfilled was the period made known through the angel Gabriel to Daniel of seventy weeks determined upon Israel and Jerusalem. In prophecy a day stands for a year, so the seventy weeks are four hundred and ninety years. The sixty-nine weeks to Messiah the Prince are four hundred and eighty-three years, counted from the going forth of the commandment to restore and build Jerusalem as completed by the decree of Artaxerxes Longimanus in the autumn of B.C. 457 to the autumn of A.D. 27.

In the autumn of A.D. 27 Jesus at His baptism received the anointing of the Holy Spirit as the Messiah, meaning the Anointed One. Soon afterward He began His ministry in Galilee, when the message that the time is fulfilled was proclaimed. In this His preaching in Galilee fulfilled the prophecy of the sixty-nine weeks reaching to the Messiah in A.D. 27.
