Peter and Andrew Plead with Jesus for Peter's Mother-in-LawBible World

Mark 1:29

And forthwith, when they were come out of the synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.

Forthwith on coming out of the synagogue Jesus entered the house of Simon Peter and Andrew with James and John and His disciples. That going to Peter's house took place on the Sabbath directly after the synagogue service where the people had witnessed His miracle. On arriving He sought rest and a little rest, but was told that Peter's wife's mother, Simon Peter's mother-in-law, lay sick with a fever and a severe fever.

Moved by compassion He went at once to relieve her and healed her immediately, the fever left her, and she rose with joy and gratitude to serve Him and His disciples. That same house then became the scene of further ministry after sunset when the Sabbath had ended, as the people brought the city's sick to Him and He healed and delivered them. This reflects His regular Sabbath practice, for every Sabbath He spoke words to comfort the sick and healed their disease without growing weary and never growing weary in His work, a work so extensive and widespread as to be beyond computation.

After giving His message He did not hang over His hearers or linger over them but let the message do its work and went right on to other places that He might publish the message, and His followers are to do the same. His move from synagogue to home to continue healing on the Sabbath exemplifies tireless service whose field is the world, giving a pattern of life and example for Sabbath ministry.
