Peter and Andrew Plead with Jesus for Peter's Mother-in-LawBible World

Mark 1:31

And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them.

This healing came immediately after the synagogue miracle, when Jesus went to Peter's house for a little rest but found no rest for Him there. It belongs among His Sabbath healings, showing that His Sabbath work included healing the sick.

The sick woman was Simon Peter's wife's mother, lying ill with a severe, great and raging fever. When Jesus was told of her sickness, His sympathetic heart was moved to relieve her suffering. He rebuked the fever and the disease, and it left her immediately and at once. He took her by the hand and lifted her up, healing her by touching her hand.

She rose from bed at once, filled with joy and gratitude, praising and magnifying the Lord for His mercy. Restored so that she could serve, she ministered with willing hands to the needs of Jesus and His disciples. She prepared food for them and served those who had ministered to her, in response to the care she had received. Her healing gives hope to the sick that Jesus can cure their maladies.
