Mark 1:38

And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns, that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth.

Jesus declined to stay where the crowds wanted to keep Him, insisting on going on to the neighboring towns to preach because that preaching was the very work for which He had come into the world. His mission was not confined to one place but reached outward to bring His message and truth to many who had not yet heard it, with healing the sick as part of that outreach. After proclaiming the truth in one place He did not linger over the people but left them to build on what they had received while the message did its work, and went on to those still unwarned. That place-to-place, people-seeking way of labor is the order His followers are to follow, carrying the truth to the world and into surrounding towns instead of settling in one little section by themselves.

Jesus' Purpose to Preach

He refused to remain where the people wanted Him to stay and tried to keep Him, since to stay would keep others from receiving His ministry. He went to other towns and cities to preach because that preaching was the work and purpose for which He came forth into the world. His work was not limited to one place but was a wider mission to bring His message and truth to many people who had not yet heard it, with His healing ministry as part of that outreach. He moved on to towns that had not yet heard the truths He came to preach.

He sought people where they could be reached, in public places, homes, synagogues, by the sea, and in highways and byways. He preached and healed throughout the day, then after dismissing the people often prayed through the night so He could renew His work in the morning. He toiled on from place to place letting His light shine where He went, and numbers were converted to the truth. He is the greatest missionary the world has ever known, come forth as the great Restorer, going from city to city preaching the gospel and healing the sick.

His words are a saving call to partake of a rich banquet, to be read and received.

Pattern for His Followers

After giving His message in one place He did not hang over the people to hold them, but left them to build upon what they had received while the message itself did its work in them. He went right on to other places to publish the message among those who had not yet heard it, because His work was not to be limited to the place where the people wanted Him to remain. That moving on to new places once the truth has been proclaimed is the method His followers are to follow, carrying the message from place to place and warning others.

His followers must not confine themselves to a little section by themselves, but must take the truth to the world. Instead of sitting at home doing nothing, they are to travel on foot from place to place to impart truth to those in darkness, as He toiled on from place to place letting His light shine where He went until numbers were converted. They must do the work He left for them and work as He worked, as laborers together with God helping and blessing those around them instead of criticizing and finding fault. This means consecrating all they have and are to Him in medical missionary work for humanity with hearts filled with unselfish love. His going, people-seeking way of labor, meeting people where they could be reached, is God's order for the work, including the work in large cities, and forbids working according to human devising.

His example calls His followers to carry the work into surrounding towns and settlements, using every means provided to labor for the saving of souls and sow seeds of truth in receptive hearts.
