Mark 10:9

What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

What God has joined in marriage must not be broken apart by people, but husband and wife are to remain united in love with harmony in the home. Discord and bickering that drive them apart violate what marriage should be. When God joins a worker to the helper He has fitted for him, given wisdom and tact, and raised up for him, He makes their hearts one with a single interest in His work and binds them together as one heart and soul. No human judgment about what is thought best, no decision to connect the helper to other work on the Pacific coast or elsewhere, and no influence at all should separate or divide them. The helper will not be sustained in work God has not given her, because her appointed work is with the one to whom God bound her, so they must be drawn together again and kept united.

God has joined business and religion together and people must not separate them, so the claim that business is business and religion is religion is false and the two cannot be divorced. All natural and acquired endowments used in business must be held under the control of His Spirit and used so that glory redounds to God. Keeping them joined requires seeking God with the whole heart and working with Christ, for without Him nothing can be done. The same principle that what God has joined together should not be separated applies to the medical missionary work and the ministry, which God has united and which must be carried on together.
