Mark 14:51
And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men laid hold on him: And there followed him a certain young man, having a linen cloth cast about his naked body; and the young men laid hold on him:
Mark 14:51 belongs to the account of Jesus' betrayal and arrest in Gethsemane, when Judas came with an armed mob and Jesus was taken. That seizure followed the Passover supper, and the account continues through his mistreatment to his crucifixion that same afternoon. It stands within Mark's account of Jesus' last hours, crucifixion, and resurrection, which gives definite details not found in the other Gospels.
It describes a young man who followed Jesus after his arrest wearing only a linen cloth cast about his naked body. When the young men laid hold on him he fled, leaving the cloth in their hands. That young man was probably John Mark, inferred because he alone records the incident and was likely about that age at the time. The verse itself leaves him unnamed and uncertain, and the identification makes no difference. His flight in only a linen cloth shows he would not have been considered respectable by worldly standards.
