The Risen Jesus Walks to Emmaus with Two DisciplesBible World

Mark 16:12

After that he appeared in another form unto two of them, as they walked, and went into the country.

After His resurrection Jesus met two of His followers while they were walking out into the countryside, showing Himself to them in a changed outward appearance. They were journeying to Emmaus, about eight miles away, and after reaching there they returned again to Jerusalem near the end of the day. When they arrived back and gave their account, those who heard it refused to believe them. Their undertaking of that lengthy trip out and back within the same day makes plain that they were not keeping that day as holy, nor remaining assembled together in celebration of the resurrection.
