Mark 5:21
And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him: and he was nigh unto the sea. And when Jesus was passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him: and he was nigh unto the sea.
Jesus crossed back by ship or boat from Gadara after healing the demoniacs, with His disciples, to the other side by the sea. His coming had been noised abroad, so a very large crowd was waiting by the sea near the shore to receive Him with joy and gather to Him. The crowd included people of every social standing, rich and poor, high and low, including Pharisees, doctors, lawyers and other religious leaders and teachers. They came eager to see the great Teacher, to listen to His teaching and witness His miracles, while many sick and afflicted people begged His attention, aid, mercy and healing.
The crowd pressed forward on every side in surging masses eager for help, so that progress from the shore was very slow and He was nearly carried off His feet. They pressed around Him as He set out with Jairus, and still pressed about the door bringing the sick even after He left to eat food in the house of Levi. He pitied the people, deploring their spiritual darkness and physical maladies, and He taught and healed by the sea until faint and weary. He stopped and paused along the way to minister to their wants, relieve suffering and comfort people. The verse opens the account of the touch of faith and the raising of Jairus's daughter, standing with its parallel Gospel records, and introduces His setting out with Jairus to heal his dying daughter.
