And straightway he entered into a ship with his disciples, and came into the parts of Dalmanutha.
After the feeding of the four thousand, Jesus entered a boat at once with His disciples and crossed to Dalmanutha, which is Magdala at the southern end of the plain of Gennesaret. While with His disciples there, He lifted their view beyond present poverty and humiliation to His future coming in glory. That coming would not be with the splendor of an earthly throne but with the glory of God and the heavenly hosts, when He will repay every person according to his works.
For their encouragement He promised that some standing with Him would remain alive until they see the Son of man coming in His kingdom. The disciples did not grasp these words, because their eyes were fixed on the nearer earthly life and on glowing expectations of the Messiah ruling on the throne of David. This left them sad and doubting, unable to comprehend how the Son of God could live as a humble homeless wanderer and voluntarily go to Jerusalem to be despised, rejected, and put to death.
