Matthew 15:30

And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he healed them:

After departing from Tyre and Sidon He came nigh unto the Sea of Galilee, and went up into a mountain and sat down there, in Decapolis on His return to that region. Great multitudes from the surrounding country came unto Him there, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed and paralyzed, and many others with many kinds of sickness and disability, and they laid them down at His feet. He received the suffering with love and sympathy, heard their appeals and welcomed them, and sent no one who sought Him away unrelieved.

He healed them all, restoring each one to full health, so that the dumb, the blind, the paralytic and all the rest left whole. Disease and the approach of death were driven away, burdens were lifted, and hope was given to the sorrowing. Sick children were tenderly comforted, freed from fever and pain, and restored to their grateful parents. The people stayed with Him three days, thousands hearing the message of salvation, eager to hear His words and see His works.

His healing gave health of body and soul and led the healed to know Him as Saviour, and though they were Gentiles they glorified the God of Israel with glad praise. Those healing works displayed divine power and confirmed His claims as the Messiah, yet prejudice and false expectations kept some from accepting the evidence. His healing of the sick brought to Him and meeting the wants of the needy is a lesson for His people today, who are to have a part in that work by healing the sick in connection with health institutions, a change from the early days of the message when those institutions did not exist.
