Matthew 8:21

And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.

The request to go first and bury a father came just before Jesus dismissed the multitude and took ship with his disciples for the desert shore on the other side of the sea. That opposite shore was a desert in comparison with the shore they were leaving, sought as rest from the fatigue of labor away from the dwellings of men. As they were moving off, a number of boats loaded with people followed Jesus because they desired to learn more concerning the doctrine he taught.

On that crossing he stilled the tempest, and after arriving he healed the demoniacs.
