For, behold, the LORD cometh forth out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon the high places of the earth.
The Lord is portrayed as issuing from His place to come down in judgment upon the earth and to tread upon its high places. That coming brings scenes of destruction and desolation that will shortly be witnessed and will soon become universal. The judgments already falling upon cities are warnings of that greater and coming destruction. Its warning summons to readiness, for the Son of man will come in an hour when He is not expected. As surely as the desolation seen at San Francisco, so surely will the Old Testament prophecies of the last day be fulfilled.
