Micah 1:5
For the transgression of Jacob is all this, and for the sins of the house of Israel. What is the transgression of Jacob? is it not Samaria? and what are the high places of Judah? are they not Jerusalem? For the transgression of Jacob is all this, and for the sins of the house of Israel. What is the transgression of Jacob? is it not Samaria? and what are the high places of Judah? are they not Jerusalem?
Samaria is the transgression of Jacob, and Jerusalem is the high places of Judah, locating the guilt of Israel and of Judah in their leading cities. The judgment described around that identification makes their destruction a warning of coming widespread desolation. That desolation is foretold to be fulfilled in the last days.
Its warning of desolation is certain, like the devastation witnessed in San Francisco. That witnessed devastation shows the coming desolation will indeed take place. Its warning of coming desolation calls for readiness, because the Son of man will come unexpectedly.
