Micah 2:11
If a man walking in the spirit and falsehood do lie, saying, I will prophesy unto thee of wine and of strong drink; he shall even be the prophet of this people. If a man walking in the spirit and falsehood do lie, saying, I will prophesy unto thee of wine and of strong drink; he shall even be the prophet of this people.
Micah 2 belongs to a depiction of the social wrongs of Micah's age. Within that setting it forms part of a prophecy of judgment upon those wrongs. It functions at once as warning and as rebuke for sin.
The man described is a false prophet who claims to walk and speak by spiritual inspiration while practicing falsehood and deception. His message is a lying promise concerning wine and strong drink, shaped to tell the people what they want to hear. For that very reason he is welcomed and accepted as the prophet fit to lead this people.
