Micah 2:8

Even of late my people is risen up as an enemy: ye pull off the robe with the garment from them that pass by securely as men averse from war.

Micah's prophecy was given during the reigns of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, contemporary with Isaiah. Its chapter exposes the social wrongs of Micah's time and reflects sympathy for the common people. The verse condemns God's people for rising up as an enemy by pulling the robe with the garment from those passing by securely as men averse from war, turning against neighbors like an enemy and stripping clothing from peaceful passersby who are not prepared for war.

The prophecy foretells Christ's coming very definitely and holds out wonderful promises to the repentant sinner. Rest is not found in sin, for sin with all its evils destroys, and true rest comes only when sin is removed and the earth is restored new once more.
