Micah 2:9

The women of my people have ye cast out from their pleasant houses; from their children have ye taken away my glory for ever.

Micah 2:9 stands within a portrayal of the social wrongs prevailing in the prophet's own day, a chapter marked by sharp perception of injustice and deep sympathy for ordinary people who suffered under it. The eviction of women from homes they loved and the stripping of dignity and divine favor from their children exemplify the oppression denounced there. The wider context of Micah 2:7-10 declares that rest is not to be found in sin, for sin with all its attendant evils brings destruction upon those who persist in remaining in it. To cling to such a polluted condition is therefore to forfeit rest and invite ruin. Genuine rest will come only when sin is taken away and the earth is made new and restored to its intended state.
