Micah 3:6

Therefore night shall be unto you, that ye shall not have a vision; and it shall be dark unto you, that ye shall not divine; and the sun shall go down over the prophets, and the day shall be dark over them.

The verse pronounces judgment on false prophets who cause God's people to err, who bite with their teeth and cry peace to those who feed them while preparing war against whoever does not put into their mouths, misleading the people and speaking for gain. The threatened night and darkness mean they shall have no vision and shall not divine, with the sun going down over the prophets and the day dark over them. The seers shall be ashamed and the diviners confounded and shall cover their lips, because there is no answer from God to them. It applies to those who have departed from the faith by giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of devils and who seduce others through falsehood and misrepresentation, as ravening wolves in sheep's clothing known by their fruits whose work is to tear down what God through His agencies is seeking to build up.

The verse belongs to the warning that scenes of destruction and desolation will soon come and be universal and will be witnessed just as they are clearly described. The judgments already fallen on wicked cities are a warning but not the finishing of the punishment that will come upon them.

The verse is the word of the Lord for the last day and will be fulfilled as surely as the desolation seen at San Francisco. Judgment day is right upon us, so all must be ready because the Son of man comes in such an hour as is not thought.
