Micah 3:7
Then shall the seers be ashamed, and the diviners confounded: yea, they shall all cover their lips; for there is no answer of God. Then shall the seers be ashamed, and the diviners confounded: yea, they shall all cover their lips; for there is no answer of God.
Micah 3:7 belongs to a warning that scenes of destruction and desolation will soon come and be universal. It concerns false and corrupt prophets and seers who cause God's people to err and mislead them. These prophets proclaim peace to those who feed and reward them, while they threaten war against those who do not provide for them and turn against them.
Their work is to tear down what God is building up, and they come in sheep's clothing while inwardly they are ravening wolves who are known by their fruits. Having departed from the faith to follow seducing spirits and doctrines of devils, they seduce others by falsehood. God's judgment upon them brings spiritual night and darkness with no vision from God, so the sun goes down over them and they lose the ability to divine. The seers are therefore left ashamed and the diviners confounded, and they all cover their lips and are silenced because there is no answer from God.
As the Lord's word for the last day it will surely be fulfilled and will be witnessed just as clearly as described, as was seen fulfilled in the desolation of San Francisco. Judgments already fallen upon wicked cities are only a warning and are not the finishing of the punishment to come upon sin and iniquity, showing that the day of judgment is right upon us. It therefore calls everyone to be ready, because the Son of man will come in an hour that is not expected.
